Betty Lou Cowan

Betty Lou Cowan, age 79, passed away March 6, 2026. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved everyone she met and would do anything to help someone out. She greatly enjoyed her garden and had a green thumb. She will be greatly missed by everyone.    

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Cowan; children, Retha Kathleen Cowan and Robert Mitchell Cowan; grandson, Joseph Cowan; granddaughter, Nancy Laree Cowan; mother, Retha Mae Vise Kirkland; grandparents, Alton and Louella Vise; siblings, Jane Prescott and Mack McClure.  

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Mac Allen Cowan; siblings, Rachel Glenn, Eloise Denmark, Polly Eanes, Charlotte Richardson, Jerome McClure, and Mark McClure; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   

The Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Roland Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
