Bertha Arvilla Moote Hektor

Bertha Arvilla Moote Hektor, age 77, of Lucedale, Mississippi, Passed away on July 20, 2025, at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. Born on June 19, 1948, in Gulfport, Mississippi, Bertha was a graduate of Pascagoula High School and earned her Degree in Elementary Education from William Carey University. She was a devoted member of Mercy Ministries.

Bertha was the true definition of a Christian woman. She loved deeply, forgave easily, and gave generously. With a heart of gold and a sweet spirit that radiated kindness, she touched the lives of everyone she met. Her faith in the Lord was unwavering, and she lived each day with love and purpose.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was her greatest joy, and though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love and faith continues through them.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, William M. Moote and Lorella G. Moote; her beloved husband, Joseph Hektor; her sisters, Ruby Bernice Anderson and Billie Louise Forehand; her grandson, Terran Michael Anderson; and her great-granddaughter Ansleigh Nicole Patrick.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Louise Anderson and Jennifer (Morgan) Patrick; her grandchildren Samantha (Justin) Boulware, Katelyn (Dylan) Eckhoff, and Raven Anderson; and her great-grandchildren, Jaxon Scott Boulware, Rowen Wade Boulware, and Weston James Eckhoff. She is also survived by her brother, William (Mary) Moote, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Bertha will be remembered for her gentle heart, her love for the Lord and the countless lives she impacted. She will be missed more than words can express.

The Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mercy Ministries. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 24, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Jamie Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in New Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers include Justin Boulware, Jeffery Dylan Eckhoff, Danny Roberts, Caleb Roberts, Jason Anderson, and Vince Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers include Hunter Hite, Wesley Hite, and Anthony Hite.
