Bert Blades

Lee Bert Blades, age 88 of the Agricola community passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Bert was born on September 13, 1929 in Moss Point, Mississippi to the late Mr. John W. and Mrs. Mary Alford Blades. He was a veteran in the United States Army where he proudly served during the Korean War. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 34 years. He later worked at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point for 17 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Point for 77 years before moving to Agricola where the family joined Barton Baptist Church. He was a hard-working man who loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.          

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Holland (Mary) Blades, Roy (Romaus) Blades, Augustine “Bub” Blades, Tim (Hazel) Blades, John D. “Dink” Blades, Nettie Simmons, Mamie (Tony) Schatz, Betty Lee (Zink) Rouse, Willie (Earl) Turnage and Augusta (Volney) Hover.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Frances Blades; son, Dennis Lee (Jeannie) Blades; grandchildren, Brian (Kelly) Blades of Baton Rouge, Cynthia (Paul) Raybon of Salt Lake City; great grandchildren, Luke and Lauren Raybon and Alyssa Blades; sister-in-law, Katherine Blades of Mobile and numerous other relatives and friends.   

The Visitation for Mr. Lee Bert Blades will be on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Moments Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Michael Perry and Bro. Brad Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Agricola cemetery with military honors.  Those serving as pall bearers are Wesley Hover, David Cobb, Willie Smith, Mike Coburn, Neal Blades, and Dickie Chapius.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Agricola Baptist Church Building Fund (http://agricolabaptist.org/) or the Barton Baptist Church Building Fund (http://www.bartonbaptist.net/).
