Avis Marie Gibson

Ms. Avis Marie Gibson, age 88, of the Vernal community passed away on March 01, 2018. She graduated from Leakesville High School in 1948 and went to work for the local factory. She later worked for Brookwood Manor Nursing Home as a CNA. Ms. Gibson also worked as a Road Foreman for Greene County. She believed in hard work and had a job until she was 82 years old. Ms. Gibson was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist church. Her hobbies included fishing, doing word searches, gardening, and growing beautiful flowers. She touched several lives and will be greatly missed.       

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Gibson; parents, Mr. Shelton W. and Mrs. Virgie M. Bond Eubanks; grandchild, Jerry Leon Fortenberry; two sisters and five brothers.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Glenda Rowell, Sharon K. (Wayne) McLeod; son, Harlen (Christina) Cooley; sister, Jean (Ed) Halbruner; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

The Visitation for Ms. Avis Gibson will be Monday, March 05, 2018 at Moments Funeral Home from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Willis McKinnis and Bro. Ed Engel officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Greene County. Pallbearers include Larry Fortenberry, Clifton Prine, Kelvin McLeod, Chris McMillian, Curt Edwards, Larry Fortenberry, Jr., and Stewart McLeod.
