Archie O. Dixon, Sr.

Archie Dixon, age 87, passed away May 26, 2021 at Providence Hospital. He was born in Mobile County, Alabama on December 5, 1933. He met and married the love of his life, Elsie Byrd, in 1955. He retired from International Paper Company after 36 years of service.           

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Mattie Clark Dixon; siblings, William Dixon, Frances Kilgore, Margaret Miller, Ann Laughton, Ervin Eugene Dixon and Jeanette Davis.   

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Elsie Byrd Dixon; children, Debbie (Doug) Goodman, Rita (Michael) Gwin and Archie O’Neal (Marcia) Dixon, Jr.; grandchildren, Marcus Renick Pridmore, Jason Bradley (Bethony) Pridmore, Emily Hope (John Michael) Horlock, Sara Elizabeth Dixon and Ryan Michael (Madeline) Gwin; great grandchildren, Kipton Walker Gwin and River Ryan Gwin; brothers, James Terrel Dixon and Wayne Phillip Dixon; numerous other relatives and friends.         

The Visitation for Archie Dixon will be Sunday, May 30, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home.  The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Eddie Davidson officiating.  Burial will follow in Refuge United Methodist Church cemetery.  Pallbearers include Donald Dixon, Terry Dixon, John Michael Horlock, Elliott Daniel, Ryan Gwin, Wesley Miller, Philip Dixon and Michael Gwin.
