Melvin Joe Brown

Mr. Melvin Joe Brown, 71, of Lucedale, MS passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Providence Hospital with his family by his side. He retired as a Quality Control Manager in the construction industry. Mr. Brown was a godly man and faithful member of Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church. He had a passion to share his testimony and the gospel with everyone he met. He loved God, family, and country. He was very loved and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Darlene Brown; son, Matt Joel Brown; father, John Gavin Brown; father-in-law, James Dru (J.D.) Shelton; mother-in-law, Helen Charlene Shelton; and brother-in-law, James Dru Shelton, Jr.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Monte Joe Brown (Rachael); daughter, Penny Lynn Brown; mother, Joan Brown; siblings, Gary Brown (Lynne), Camille Brown (Randy), Djoni Kay McLeod (Roger), Valerie McLeod (Verlon), Linda McLeod (George); sister-in-laws, Jan Dempsey (David) and Christina Shelton; grandchildren, Charley Brown (Morgan), Jordan Clark (Chris), Shelby Brown, Jared Miller (Tiffany), and Bree Miller; great-grandchildren, Lucas Miller, Cassidee Hobby, Hailey Clark, Jennifer Clark, Monte Clark, Ariel Steen, and Mahayla Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A wake will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 6-9 pm at Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church. The Funeral Service will be Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 10 am with Rev. Karl Causey and Rev. James Roberts officiating. The interment will be in the Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jared Miller, Kelvin McLeod, George McLeod, Marcus McLeod, John McLeod, Jay Hovatter, Weston McLeod, and Trevor McLeod.
