Sheila Bexley

Dr. Sheila Marlys Mergenschroer Bexley passed suddenly May 21, 2019 at the age of 67. She was born and raised in George County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Calmas Allen Mergenschroer. She was a faithful member of Barton Baptist Church and worked many years in the George County School District. She began her career in education as a teacher and advanced to Administrator. She proudly received her Doctorate in Psychology in 2005. She retired from education after 33 years. She also served the community as a School Board member for several years. Ms. Sheila was quick to reach out to help others and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed.   

She is preceded in death by her parents, Calmas Allen Mergenschroer and Jimmie Kathleen Ivey Mergenschroer; sister, Marsha Graham.   

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Katie (Chase) Hinton; granddaughter, Kamryn Hinton; step-son, James Bexley; brother-in-law, Ronnie Graham; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.      

The Visitation for Dr. Sheila Bexley will be Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Barton Baptist church. The Funeral Service will follow beginning at 12:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Brad Howard and Bro. Tab Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in Barton Baptist cemetery. Pallbearers include Seth Graham, Dennis Graham, Josh Havard, Heath Havard, Glen Strahan, David Pritchett, Jerry McGarity and Dean Scott.
