Odis Beech, 81 years of age, passed away on October 14, 2018, in Lucedale, Mississippi. He was born on November 29, 1936, in Greene County, Mississippi, but was a resident of Lucedale for more than 60 years.
Odis was a graduate of Leakesville High School and retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in 2000 after more than 30 years in the Maintenance Department, serving in various positions including supervisor. He also worked as a Millwright at International Paper Company before joining the shipbuilding industry. Odis enjoyed attending the annual homecoming events at the high school and visiting with former classmates as well as his regular "armchair chats" with family and friends. Odis loved each of his grandchildren in a unique way and treasured the shared memories; but, most of all, he enjoyed giving them advice on many areas of life, while helping them at any time of the day or night.
Odis is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lurvia Beech, and son Terry (Tanya) Beech of Lucedale, Mississippi; daughter, Lana Kay Pierce of Lucedale, Mississippi; grandsons, Destin Beech, of Mobile, Alabama, Slade Beech and Cruz Beech of Lucedale, Mississippi; Derek (Lauren) Pierce of Long Beach, Mississippi; granddaughter, Crystal Beech of Laurel, Mississippi; great-grandchildren, Madison and Reese Pierce; brother-in-law, Teddy (Betty Sue) Hinton; Anna Faye and Jason Kelley, who were like family; Rhonda Rosamond, a devoted caregiver who became a part of the family. He also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will sadly miss his sense of humor and sage advice.
Odis is preceded in death by his son Kenny Beech, his parents Jeff and Fronia Beech; six brothers and a sister.
