Marshall Whittington Obituary

Marshall Hollis Whittington passed away April 30, 2019 at the age of 77. He was a lifelong resident of Benndale, Mississippi and among the last graduating class from Broom School. He was a dedicated member of First Jesus Name Church of Benndale. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 37 years of service. If not working or spending time with family, he could be found fishing one of his favorite spots. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He will be greatly missed.       

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Katherine Whittington; brothers, Robert Whittington, James Whittington and Earl Gibson; sister, Margrette Gibson Collins.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Glenda Fay Shoemaker Whittington; daughters, Lori (Keith) Churchwell, Vikki Whittington, and Tara (Cory) Tootle; grandchildren, Courtney (Heath) Turner, Brytne (Miles) Hinton, Brennen (Melanie) Ferguson, Jeren Ferguson, Byren Ferguson, Garrett Middleton, Conner Middleton, Brett Middleton, Case Tootle and Colby Tootle; great grandchildren, Cailey McGregor, Cannon McGregor, Nash Turner, Gage Hinton, Mila Kate Hinton, Marley Ferguson and Micah Ferguson; sisters, Helen (Edward) Ford, Dianne (Keith) Berry, Syble (Fred) McCullogh, Shirley Gonzales and Laura King; numerous other relatives and friends. 

The Visitation for Mr. Marshall Whittington will be Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM at First Jesus Name Church of Benndale. The Funeral Service will be Friday, May 3, 2019 in the church sanctuary beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. William T. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Brennen Ferguson, Jeren Ferguson, Byren Ferguson, Garrett Middleton, Conner Middleton, Brett Middleton, Miles Hinton and Heath Turner. Honorary pallbearers include Troy Ford, Wade Whittington and Marcus Berry.
